NOTES The church's original instrument was a II-manual, 7-rank, tubular- pneumatic Bennett built in 1923 as opus 971. It was free-standing and recessed into a chamber at the front of the church. The keydesk was attached and projecting. In 1984 - as part of the church's centennial celebration - the organ was electrified by Dr. R. Byard Fritts of Tacoma, WA. New Klann stop slides were fitted behind the original Bennett keys. New Reisner 601 electro- mechanical magnets were installed inside the chest to replace the Bennett two-pouch-per-note pneumatics. A Reisner gang switch pedal relay was added. The original 8' Diapason, 8' Melodia, 8' Stopped Diapason and 4' Flute d'Amour remained unchanged. The reedless, tenor C 8' Oboe had a used string bass added and was renamed Dolcan. The 8' Dulciana was cut in half and tuned sharp of the Dolcan [Oboe], being called Dolcan Celeste. The original Bennett 8' Salicional was rescaled, cut-down, de-bearded, and revoiced into a 49-pipe 2' Principal. A small, new electro-mechanical chest containing a 49-pipe 1⅓' Larigot was installed. In 1992, the church's organ technician, John Woodruff of Portland, OR, began a project of rebuilding and enlarging the organ. A used M.P. Möller, opus 6133, 1933, from Mt. Pleasant M.E. Church outside St. Louis was purchased used for $5,000.00, and was brought back to be refurbished and combined with the Bennett. Due to the sudden death of Mr. Woodruff's business partner, he was unable to complete the project. Up to that point, the Möller console had been refinished, the Peterson solid state coupler driver had been installed inside the console, alterations to the front of the sanctuary had been made, some organ components had been refurbished utilizing volunteer help from the parishioners, the Swell chamber had been created and the expression shutters installed. In August of 1996, Jim Stettner of Seattle, WA in partnership with Phil Larson of Spokane, WA undertook the completion of the project. Thereafter, the benefactor – Mr. Gail Shaw of Chehalis, elected to have the project completed by Frans W.M. Bosman of [then] Portland, OR. The Möller console has new Peterson manuals and a new Peterson pedal contact system. A Peterson solid state combination action was installed inside the console, and a Peterson solid state, diode matrix relay controls all the switching. The Great chest from the used St. Louis Möller was used in the Swell and was rebuilt with new Peterson electro-mechanical valves. Another used 3-rank Möller chest was also installed in the Swell for the 2-2/3', 2', and 1-3/5' ranks. Some of the Möller offset chests which hold larger pipes were left electro-pneumatic and were releathered. Seven ranks of mostly newer, used pipework were acquired from the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in the Magnolia section of Seattle. These were the Great 8' Open Diapason, 4' Octave, 4' Harmonic Flute, III Mixture, and 16'/8' Trumpet. In the Great, the 8' Open Diapason, 4' Octave, and III Mixture are 1970's Stinkens pipework from the Seattle organ. The 8' Melodia is original Bennett with a used Kimball stopped bass. The 4' Flute d'Amour is original Bennett. The 8' Dulciana in from the St. Louis Möller, and the 8' Unda Maris is another Dulciana of unknown provenance from Mr. Stettner's inventory. The 2' Fifteenth was ordered new from Organ Supply Industries in Erie, PA. In the Swell, the 16' Bourdon/8' Stopped Diapason, 8' Violin Diapason, 8' Salicional, 8' Voix Celeste, and 8' Vox Humana are all from the St. Louis Möller. The Fugara is the original Bennett 8' Dulciana cut-down as previously described. The 4' Harmonic Flute is from the Seattle organ and is by Aeolian. The 2-2/3' Nasard is the original Bennett 8' Salicional rescaled with new pipes added to the bass and revoiced. The 2' Piccolo is non-harmonic and is new from Organ Supply Industries. The 1-3/5' Tierce is the formerly added 1-1/3' Larigot rescaled with several new bass pipes. The 8' Oboe is of unknown provenance, but appears to be by Kimball. The 16'/8' Trumpet is Stinkens pipework from the Seattle organ. In the Pedal, the 16' Subbass is the original St. Louis Möller 16' Bourdon. The 8' Diapason is the St. Louis Möller 8' Second Open Diapason. The 4' Choral Bass is the original Bennett 8' Open Diapason from tenor C. The 4'/2' Flute is the St. Louis Möller 8' Gross Flute.
