Baraboo, Wisconsin St. Joseph R. C. 1895 Farrand & Votey, Op. 758 I am told the organ was built for the Ringling residence of Baraboo, Wisconsin, the family of circus fame, in 1899, as Farrand & Votey opus 758. [Built for Otto Bollman res., St. Louis, MO in 1895 and sold to Ringling in 1899.] At some point, the organ was moved to Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Baraboo, where it remained until the church put it in storage for a construction project. It is my understanding that, after the renovation, it was determined that the organ would not fit, and that the space was needed for seating, and that an electronic substitute is now employed. The church now wishes to dispose of the organ. Mr. Daly reports to me that the organ has been professionally dismantled. I have never seen or heard the organ, and cannot attest to its present condition. Mr. Daly has told me that recordings of the organ, made before dismantling, are available to interested parties. I believe that the church is seeking in the neighborhood of $2,500 to $5,000 to recover costs of dismantling and storage. The organ has previously been offered on ebay.com, but has not sold.
