NOTES The Bennett was installed in a recessed chamber at the front, center of the church. A false façade of ten pipes divided into two towers of five pipes at either side is all that decorated the front. An attached keydesk projected from the front of the case. In the Great, the first four pipes of the 8' Open Diapason are of open wood, then it changes to open metal. The first 12 notes of the 8' Melodia are borrowed from the Swell 8' Stopped Diapason, then it becomes open wood. In the Swell, the 8' Stopped Diapason is entirely of stopped wood, and the first 18 pipes are offset so they can be borrowed to the Great and Pedal. The 8' Salicional may have been a tenor C stop, or may have borrowed its bass from the Great 8' Dulciana. The 4' Flute d'Amour is stopped wood for 37 pipes, then changes to open metal trebles. The 8' Oboe is labial and tapers wider as the resonator gets taller. The Pedal 16' Bourdon is an extension of the Swell 8' Stopped Diapason. Sources: Bennett opus list; extant, altered organ.
