Baton Rouge, Louisiana St. George R. C. Church Hillgreen, Lane Organ [On line update from Dan Talbot, September, 2005] This organ was originally installed in the School for the Blind [and I think it became School for the Deaf] and was purchased for $1.00 by Our Lady of Mercy RC Church in the late 1950s and installed in the temporary "gym." It was used in there 15 hours a day as a practice instrument for LSU students as well as to play the 8 Sunday Services and 3-4 weddings a weekend. It was in constant use. When our new church was built, a Schantz organ was installed and this organ was GIVEN to St. George who was at the time using an electrified reed organ. It was originally moved by George Babb of Houston, TX. The original console was used! When St. George turned their temporary building into a church, the building was remodeled, a Reisner console added. This instrument has a gorgeous Dopple Flute on the Great.
