Saint Louis, Missouri Holy Cross Lutheran Updates from Jeff White, organist 1991-2001. Correction on spec: Add Great to Great 16', also new in 1998. 4' Bourdon in Pedal is prepared. II Rauschbass in Pedal is NOT prepared, but from 8' Open Diapason #2 in Great. 16' Fagott is borrowed from 8' Cornopean in Great. 1-12 are Prepared. Significant rebuilds: Original = 1908 Rebuilt 1924 Rebuilt 1950 Rebuilt 1981 (console only) New Console in 1998 by Robert G. Dial, Springfield, IL. Chest is a electro-pneumatic, with some tubular-pneumatic in the Swell division. Key action is electric, as is stop action. Stop action uses pneumatics for drawing/closing. Organ is placed in the west gallery. At one time, the original facade was stenciled, but it is thought that this was painted over in the 1950 renovation of the church and organ. Facade pipes are painted white with gold paint above and below the pipe mouths. One-fifth of the facade are non-speaking. The Swell division is actually placed behind the rear wall, in the base of the bell tower. The Great and Pedal are in the balcony area proper and are exposed. The Console, new in 1998 and built by Robert G. Dial of Springfield, IL, is placed in the gallery facing the rear wall and the organ chamber. There are choir risers between the console and organ chamber. The console is a two-manual, tilt-tablet console, with the tablets arranged by division in two rows per division. There is one swell pedal and one crescendo pedal. This console has 32-level multiplexed memory system. There are 8 generals, and 4 divisional pistons per division. Coupler reversibles also remove sub- and super-couplers. The zimbelstern is operated via toe stud. Chime volume control is in the organ chamber itself. [Jeff White -- on-line update May 30, 2005]
